Eight couples arrived on thursday the 20st to check in in one of the best Hotels of the Netherlands.The Karel V hotel right in the centre of Utrecht.
First evening get together drinks on the terras and than in a nearby Hotel, the Union House, an excellent dinner.
Friday a day for Utrecht.
A guided tour which unravelled the secrets of the past of this former Roman city.
We saw roman remains and the basement of parts of the church and ended 25 meter above the city in the beautiful restored Dom Tower.
A nice lunch follwed by a short shopping tour and canal tour and a Beer tasting event in a the famous castle Oudaen (also a brewery)
Hotel Karel V served an outstanding dinner and than no nightclubs or even a bar (we get too old for that).
Next day Gouda, known for Cheese Candles and wafflels and also for their waterworks and history as a rich city.
After this exhauting day we ended in a spectaculair glasshouse restaurant, Stadsjochies, which is praised for its unique use of locally produced vegetables (not completely appreciated by the carnivores among us ).
And before you know it, the NOME is over and John and Cees are happy that everything went so well (Even the completely selfdriving car of Cees scared nobody)
